2024 Election Process
When are IBMA nominations and election held?
Nominations for Board of Directors positions and Officers Positions are held at the January Meeting each year. If there are elections, they will be held at the February Meeting each year.
What are the prerequisites to vote in an election?
To vote in an election you have to be a PAID Member of the IBMA. You have to have attended three meetings in a fiscal year (January - November) and have signed in to each meeting.
What are the prerequisites to accept a nomination for elections?
Board of Directors:
-Must be a Standard Member in good standing with dues for at least one full year
-Must have served as a Committee Chairperson or Committee Member within that year
-Must have attended three meetings in a fiscal year
Officers:
-Must be a Standard Member in good standing with dues
-Must have served at least one term (2 years) as a Board of Director
Who cannot vote or accept nominations for elections?
Associate Members cannot vote nor accept nominations for elections
Vendors cannot vote nor accept nominations for elections
Can I nominate myself for a position?
Yes. A Standard Member can nominate themselves for a Board of Director or Officer position as long as the above prerequisites have been completed.
Why is this years election deemed a "special election"?
Because the Illyrian Building Managers was founded mid year of 2022, most of the prerequisites listed above cannot apply unless the Associations delays elections for one more year. It is very difficult to operationally run an organization with our projected membership size, without elected leadership.
As such, the (35) Founding Members of the IBMA have conformed a special election so a dais and leadership can be chosen.
In January 2023, nominations will be accepted any member who is initiated in 2022, and they will be eligible to vote in February 2023 elections.
January 2024's nominations will be conducted with standard procedures. No special election necessary.
